Lloyd Sherman - Funeral

My uncle Lloyd Sherman passed away tragically this past August.

Lloyd was a lover of music and was very moved by New Orleans Second Line funeral processions, so my cousins decided to honor him with one of his own after he passed, an unusual sight on New York City's Upper West Side.

Rest in peace, Lloyd. We miss you so much.

The Montana Ray is a guitar Lloyd picked up in a midtown pawn shop years ago, a symbol of his love of country music and his playful character.

Lloyd, who was a lover of country music, together with my Aunt Jane, raised children who became talented musicians.

My cousins sang tribute to Lloyd after his funeral:

Lloyd's granddaughter Annabelle pulled the fire alarm just before this song started. Pretty classic. You can hear it going off in the background:

  1. Oh dear! I was just emailing Dr. Sherman to see if I could finally treat him for lunch. He was a very important mentor for me and my classmates at the CEYE Mount Sinai program and beyond, during my college years. I know that this is the right Dr. Sherman because he had photos of his children in his paper-filled office. May he rest in peace.
